The morning belongs to Delphi: the Sacred Way past the Athenian Treasury, the Temple of Apollo where the oracle spoke, the theatre above it, and the museum with the bronze Charioteer. After lunch the road climbs twelve kilometres east to Arachova, a stone village stacked up the side of Mount Parnassus, known for its woven rugs, its formaella cheese and its long views over the olive plain toward the sea.
